4 Haw Flakes Lapis (Layered) Steamed Cake

Hello...


Saw this steamed cake many times at other bloggers' home..Teruja to make it, but when I think of the time required to lapis the cake, it somehow deter me from making the cake..although tekak ni rasa sangat2 nak makan..The recipe has been in my recipe box for ages, so after scrutinizing the ingredients, I decided to just do it ;)..The recipe calls for 'squarish biskut tawar' plain biscuits, so i went to buy some..not sure though if the biscuits I bought were the correct one...



And after about an hour layering the steamed cake, this is the outcome...BTW, this cake has the honour of being the virgin one in my new shiny on-sale steamer, Mr Endo...Sukakan Endo-san...muah ha ha!!!!


Verdict :- The cake is moist with a sweet-sour taste, just as it should be with the haw flakes..Will pass some to Sis & Mom to try. As for the lapis part, I'm not sure how the rest do it, is it enough with just the back of a spoon?? or is there a special toy to lapis the cake? I think I'll try baking lapis prune cake (baked version) just to test my patience in layering..Sigh!! there were times when I just feel like putting in a ladleful of batter instead of 4 spoonfuls each time during the layering process...hmm...tak sabar langsung kita ;)

KEK LAPIS ASAM MANIS

Bahan-bahan
1 cawan serbuk biskut tawar ( 1 c plain biscuits - finely blended & shifted)
4 biji telur ( 4 eggs)
3/4 cawan butter (3/4 c butter)
3/4 cawan gula (3/4 c sugar @ 180g)
1 sk ovallete (1 t ovallete)
1/8 cawan susu pekat ( 3 T condensed milk)

Cara2 (Method)

Satukan gula, telur, ovallette dgn susu pekat dan pukul sampai betul2 gebu.. Dlm mangkuk lain kacau margerine atau butter guna senduk untuk lembutkan dia sampai berkilat licin BUKAN dcairkan kat atas api ya :D.. pastu masukkan margerine atau butter td kat adunan telur dan pukul lagi, akhir sekali masukkan Serbuk biskut tadi sikit2 dan kacau sampai sebati.. Bahagikan sama rata kepada 2 bahagian, kukus mcm biasa lapis demi lapis dan susun lah hawflakes tu, kukus sampai habis, berapa minit bergantung pada lapisan yg kita buat tu ya. Ratakan adunan pertama dan susun secukup hawflakes dipermukaannya dan kukus selama 5-7 min dalam kukusan yg telah dipanaskan dulu. Buat hingga habis lapisan seterusnya dan susun hawflakes dan kukus.Untuk lapisan yang akhir kukus selama 20 min supaya kek masak keseluruhannya.
***untuk membahagikan sama rata setiap lapisan akak ambil 4 senduk lauk dan dibahagi kpd 5 mangkuk dan warnakan.Untuk lapisan terakhir susun hawflakes jika suka...
Setelah kek masak,biarkan di dlm loyang selama 10 min kemudian dibalikkan di atas redai kek supaya sejuk.
( Mix sugar, eggs, ovallete & condensed milk) till smooth & fluffy. In another bowl, use a ladle to smoothen butter till soft & shiny - do not double-boil butter. Add butter to the sugar/eggs mixture and beat till well incorporated. Add in biscuit powder in batches & fold till well incorporated. Divide batter into 2 & add food colouring to each batter. Pre heat steamer way in advance. Add 4 T batter & steam for about 5 mins depending on the thickness of the layer. Then add haw flakes & another 4 T of another coloured batter & steam again. Repeat till done. Last layer, steam for 20 minutes for overall 'done-ness' of cake. Cool cake in pan for 10 mins and then transfer to wired rack to cool completely)

  1. salam yat. cantik dan sedap kek lapis yat tu.lapisnya serata . ini menunjukkan orangnya rajin, sabar dan takun , kalau tidak kek lapis ni takkan nampak cantik.hanya orang yg sebegitu yg boleh masak yg berlapis2 ni. auntie,rasanya tak masuk dalam kumpulan tu...

  4. he he..tq la LG...i buat about 11pm last nite & it stretches to way, way.. past midnight..mata pon naik 'steam' melapis...nasib baik Dude still awake meddling his laptop..lain da ko dah...malam2 sorang2 bikin cake macam2 bunyi ada...muah ha ha...dasar penakut...kah kah kah!!!!
